The Orthodox Archbishopric Palace was built in 1887 to serve as headquarter for the Administration of Silvan Land Areas.
After the works of the Orthodox Cathedral had been finished the building was donated by the state to the Romanian Orthodox Church. The building also hosts the Orthodox Theological Seminary and a chapel where the former sylvan administration used to be.
